The Islamic Republic of Iran is among the leading countries in holding Holy Quran competitions, and throughout its more than four decades of glorious history, it has paid special attention to holding these competitions at national and international levels. Judging Holy Quran competitions is one of the main pillars of holding these competitions. This activity, after the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran and with the continuous holding of Holy Quran competitions at various levels in our country, has now become almost a profession. Judging in any activity that has a competitive aspect leads to a ruling and is considered a kind of judgment, and judgment in Islam is of great importance. Judging Holy Quran competitions is a scientific judgment; every scientific judgment requires two kinds of scales: correct judgment (corresponding to reality) and ethical judgment (avoiding infringement of participants' rights). This article, which has been conducted using the grounded theory method, has collected its data from 34 in-depth interviews and semi-structured questionnaires with 19 judges and 15 contestants. The interviews continued until theoretical saturation was reached, and after coding the data, led to the extraction of 28 principles of professional ethics in judging Holy Quran competitions, in two main categories: principles related to organizers and principles related to judges. The results of this research can be effective in improving the level of judging Holy Quran competitions.
