Abstract

Abstract
The correct interpretation of the verses of the Glorious Qurʾān has always been one of the essentials of Islamic society throughout history. Correct interpretation requires adherence to and mastery of the related sciences and its specific rules. One of the sciences that is directly related to Qurʾānic exegesis is the science of recitation of the Holy Qurʾān. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of the seven different readings on the exegesis of some of the verses of Surah al-Nur. Studies show that the differences in reading have no significant effect on the interpretation of the verses of this Surah. In general, the difference between the readings can be regarded as the ultimate eloquence and miraculous beauty and profundity of the Qurʾān, since most of the words that have variant readings are the result of such factors as difference in the quality of recitation due to inclination, intonation, blending, glottal and non-glottal pronunciations, or due to differences in the inflection of the words which have no effect on the meaning per se and can be considered as part of its subtlety and elegance.
