The issue of ihtijaj (argumentation) in Qira’at is one of the important discussions in the field of Recitation sciences and technologies. Scholars of Quranic sciences and commentators of the Islamic world have resorted to argumentation in Qur’anic readings with various methods and rules according to their accepted principles in this regard. Argumentation in readings has its own principles and goals that need to be carefully studied by experts.
The purpose of this article is to examine the rules of argumentation in Qur’anic readings by commentators and recitation scholars. The research method in this article is descriptive-analytical in which written sources are used. The main findings of the research in the present article are that the argumentation in Qur’anic readings requires rules that are derived from the principles accepted by recitation scholars. Among the rules used in the ihtijaj can be examined the interpretation of the verse before choosing the recitation, the use of the context of the verses, the conformity of the word and the contents of the recitation with the eloquent Arabic word, the authentic hadiths mentioned the conformity of the recitation with the Mus'haf of Uthman (the common manuscript of the Quran) and the conformity of the verse with the literary rules approved by the eloquent Arabic language.
