Abstract

One of the disputed verses in the science of Quranic recitation is the first verse of Surah Anfal. Alongside the well-known recitation, (یَسْئَلُونَکَ عَنِ الْأَنْفالِ) "Yas'aloonaka 'ani al-Anfal," another recitation variation, "Yas'aloonaka al-Anfala," exists, leading to differences in the interpretation of the verse. The data for this research has been collected through library resources and processed in a descriptive-analytical manner. Upon examination, it became evident that the intended meaning of "Yas'aloonaka" is inquiring about the spoils of war (Anfal) itself, not a ruling regarding Anfal. Furthermore, the recitation (یَسْئَلُونَکَ الْأَنْفالَ) "Yas'aloonaka al-Anfala" aligns with Shiite narrations and is consistent with the context of the verse. This recitation fulfills all the necessary conditions for validity except the condition of being continuously transmitted. Consequently, since this recitation is reported through a singular transmission and does not adhere to the principle of the Quran's continuous transmission, it is deemed unacceptable. Despite fulfilling other conditions of accurate recitation and being confirmed, its lack of continuous transmission diminishes its validity. Therefore, this recitation cannot be considered as part of the Quran, as it lacks continuity, despite meeting other requirements
