Scope:
The journal of Studies of Quran Reading (SQR) welcomes original contributions that explore the multifaceted dimensions of Quranic reading (Qira’at) and recitation, encompassing both classical and contemporary approaches. The journal’s scope includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:
- Foundational principles and methodologies of Quranic readings (Qira’at);
- Comparative studies linking Qira’at with tafsir (interpretation), adab (literature), balagha (rhetoric), fiqh (jurisprudence), waqf (endowment), and related Islamic disciplines;
- Structural and textual analysis of canonical and non-canonical readings;
- Historical and chronological investigation of the development and transmission of readings;
- Theological and epistemological justification of variant readings;
- Critical evaluation of Orientalist perspectives on Quranic recitation;
- Literary, rhetorical, and melodic (musical) dimensions of the Quranic text;
