Abstract

There is no doubt that the Quran is a book sent down by the God to the heart of the Prophet(PBUH). What we are currently facing are various recitations, including the "Seven Recitations." Some believe that the differences in recitations have reasons such as the efforts of the reciters, the initial variations in writing, and so on. However, many scholars believe that these recitations were all revealed to the heart of the Prophet(PBUH), and he recited them to his companions so that they would reach Muslims. Several reasons have been given for this, such as the Hadith of the Seven Ahruf and the consistency of the seven recitations. One of these reasons is the attribution of the seven recitations to the person of the Prophet(PBUH), meaning that each of the seven reciters learned their recitation from their own sheikh and teacher until this recitation reached the Prophet(PBUH). This article examines the validity of attributing the seven recitations to the Prophet(PBUH) using a descriptive-analytical method and by collecting evidence and reasons. The evidence and reasons for attributing the seven recitations to the Prophet(PBUH) are as follows: 1. Narrations indicating the tradition of recitations. 2. Explicit statements by the reciters and others affirming the attribution of their recitations to the Prophet(PBUH). 3. The chain of transmission of the recitations. Against these reasons, objections have been raised, such as the argument for the recitations, ceremonial chains of transmission, and contradictions with reason and credibility that has been analyzed and examined.
